Thank you for info. I hear only about forced nature of wearing burkas. I am sorry to say whole concept makes me sick, but I would favor its allowance even here in the name of freedom except that in places like London, Muslims march & threaten violence against opposing views (even book publication). I am afraid that ultimately this will happen in US and I want my freedom, too. I even had a warning by Muslim guard at Pales parade in NYC not to express pro-Israel views because they would riot.

In Islam,there is alhijab(cited in the Quran)is wearing clothes cover all the body but the face and the hand,burqua exists in some countries Iran and Arabian Peninsula.In france,there is 2000 women native france & converted to islam[News of France24 channel]wears burqua by free decision.In Iran,unfortunately it is not always the case.InTurkey...wome n should wear the Hijab.Does this mean we oblige them to wear it?No.But it is a command from God and they r responsible of their deeds

I take your word that burkas are not the idea of Islam. However, it certainly is prevalent in so many countries ruled by Muslims. How do you explain that Muslims do not demand freedom for their women from this uncomfortable and negatively symbolic practice? Of course, orthodox Jewish women have certain rules less extreme rules re. clothing, but no one gets beaten or jailed for not observing them! It is the rigid, merciless, unthinking harshness that troubles me.

Wearing black sheets, it is coming from some local traditions and not from Islam, In tunisia for example we havent this tradition, there is no a text in islamic literature (Quran and Sunnah) that impose to women to wear this kind of clothes.
